The current Smells Like Wood pages use a browser-local tool with optional saved progress. The tool uses LocalStorage rather than a cookie to remember your inputs. Google Analytics may set analytics cookies, including _ga and property-specific _ga_* cookies. These are separate from tool storage.
What the tool saves
The timber species selector can save project, scent and hardness filter preferences in this browser's LocalStorage under slw:timber-selector:v1. The tool does not send these inputs to the site server or a third-party service. LocalStorage is browser storage, not an analytics cookie.
The saved entry is used to restore the tool after a refresh. It is not an account, a shared cloud record or a server-side diagnostic file. There is no automatic cross-device synchronization.
How to remove saved progress
Use the tool's clear-session or reset control to remove its saved entry. You can also clear this site's data in your browser settings. Browser settings may block or remove storage; private browsing may keep it only for that browsing session. The tool handles unavailable storage, but your progress may not survive a refresh.
Reading the guide library does not require a saved tool session. Tool storage controls do not control Google Analytics cookies; use your browser controls to remove or block those cookies.
Analytics cookies
Google Analytics measures page views and general usage using cookies and requests to Google. It is an analytics service, not necessary for using the tools or reading guides. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in the site configuration. Tool inputs are not included in the Analytics configuration. This version loads Analytics without an on-site consent prompt. Browser privacy controls or blocking tools may prevent collection. Google processes data under its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Hosting and external providers
The hosting infrastructure may use its own delivery or security mechanisms. Following an external or disclosed affiliate link opens a separate provider, whose cookies and data practices are governed by that provider. This page does not certify the behaviour of a browser extension, email application or external website.
